Volnay 2006, Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley

Over the last 5 years I have enjoyed tasting the pinots produced by the Bouley family in Volnay. My co-taster Mitch Sedgwick immediately identified this as a "Red Burgundy Wine" as stated on the bottle. This 2006 Volnay announces itself with a lovely deep cherry colour. Violets, strawberries, plums and soft licorice on the nose -- the sweet jazz tones of the 2006 vintage ring true. Mitch continues with his analysis on the palate considering it fresh and tingly, uplifting like a Victoria's Secret push up bra. Photo shows M. Sedgwick en pleine forme dans les vignes.

We have a 2006 Volnay, 1er cru Reine Pedauque. What's your opinion on when to drink it?

    Thanks,
    Jessica

  2. Hi Jessica. The 2006 was a ripe vintage which is fairly forward and fruit-driven. I think your Volnay from Reine Pedauque will drink well in 2011 already. The French always say it is better to drink hope than despair!
